perthshire plumage visuals for packaging and image

Alessia Aromatherapy

Alessia allowed us to re discover the fun of packaging. A small start up, they wanted to be able to print a lot of the solutions themselves. Cost is also a major consideration in the solution. We were very pleased with the outcome which gives them a unique as well as very usable mark which works well over their packaging and stationary.

Perthshire Plumage

Another packaging challenge. This young jewelry designer needed packaging that would convey her company's use of pheasant feathers to make her pieces. Protect the pieces and enable them to be displayed for sale. While being cheap and easy for her to print and assemble herself.

We also took the pictures of a model wearing some of the hair pieces.

digital image making

digital image making

Using computer programs to enhance or create images has particular advantages. This image benefits from the ability to use very brilliant colours, transparency and particularly the ability to reproduce elements exactly enhancing the point made that the crysilys is almost a mold for the new insect body.

corporate design

This shows how kelly accounting's logo was applied to their stationary. They also had the logo applied to bags and advertising.

comrie quake logo

Comrie Quake Identity

This logo design came out of the fact that Comrie, where the festival is held, is on the border between Scotland's highland and lowland plates and therefore experiences a high level of seismic activity.

The fact that the festival is divided into two parts, one during the day and one in the evening further informs the design and was used in the literature and publicity materials.

images

I present here a wide range of images I have produced, from drawings to computer generated illustrations, photographs to paper sculptures. The more images a designer has in their ‘mental library’ the more options they have to create ideas for their client.
I do not limit my design work by only using images I have produced myself, but the practice of making images keeps my imagination alive to different possibilities, as well as being aware of the technical challenges some ideas present.

drawn images

I have always had an interest in and ability to produce, drawn images.
This ability facilitates design, particularly when asked to bring non visual subjects to life.
When one can express an idea in diagramatic form, while working alonside the client, many possibilities can be explored.

Andy Niven is a Garden Designer starting up his own business.

He wanted to use the Identity we had designed for him as the basis for his website as he built the business.

It is either a first port of call for web browsers or a place where people to whom he has given his business card can gain further information on his approach

manipulated images

I also enjoy the ability to make photographs do more, perhaps surreal things to sharpen the message impact. This image was manipulated in photoshop to advertise the 'hothouse festival' which might refer to flowers in a glasshouse, but what if it were a bit hotter.....

Photography

Doing the photography for a design comission - (in this case a website for "the flowerhouse" a floristry business in Perthshire) allows me to indulge one of my favourite activities.I particularly enjoy macro photography which shows what the naked eye can miss.
